A Very Special Memory Order

This was a very special order from a customer who had sadly lost her mum. She brought me some of her mum’s much-loved clothes and asked me to get creative, making something meaningful for herself, her girls and her niece.

It was such a lovely project to work on, and I was delighted with how everything came together.

The finished pieces included:

• A memory doll made from one of her mum’s T-shirts, with her scarf transformed into the doll’s hair and a tiny pair of flannel pyjamas made from Nan’s pyjamas.

• A bolster pillow, or “hugging pillow”, made from her mum’s soft, cuddly dressing gown, including the original fabric to make it extra special.

• A baby mobile made from one of her mum’s T-shirts.

• A wall feature made from pieces of each of the T-shirts I was given, creating a beautiful keepsake for my customer.

• A little something extra for the girls to wear, so they can carry a small piece of their Nan with them.

I feel very lucky to be trusted with such precious clothing and to be able to turn much-loved pieces into something new that can be treasured for years to come.
